May Update 2021

The Democratic Party is busy here in Santa Rosa County and we’d love for you to continue being a part of our efforts. Here’s how you can get involved this month.

Voter Outreach Initiative

We recently started our major outreach initiative for 2021. Our goal is to connect with as many Democrats and NPAs as possible in order to better understand the issues that are most important to our voters, and to ensure that people are ready to vote in the all-important 2022 elections.

This campaign has three parts: 1) Sending postcards introducing ourselves, 2) Following up with phone calls to spur a conversation, and 3) Going door-to-door to connect on an even more personal level.

If you’d like to participate in these efforts, please reply to let us know. The more volunteers we have, the more voters we can reach and the better we'll perform in 2022.

One simple and powerful way to help is through a financial contribution. Postcards, stamps, and door hangers all cost money, and to be honest that is the biggest limiting factor right now in terms of the number of people we can reach.

If you can afford it, even a small contribution towards our efforts would go a long way. And if you can make it a monthly contribution, even if it’s only $5-$10 per month, you would be providing us with reliable income that will make it easier for us to plan ahead.

Thank you.

Monthly Meeting

Our next monthly meeting is Thursday, May 20 at 6pm. We have a number of different initiatives in the works right now and this is a great opportunity to hear more about them and figure out where you’d like to fit in.

You can register for the meeting here: https://www.mobilize.us/santarosacountydems/event/373146. You are also welcome to attend any of our other local Democratic meetings:

  • The Democratic Black Caucus is meeting on Thursday, May 13 at 6pm. For more information, please contact Desi Lee at santarosadbc@gmail.com.

  • The Democratic Women’s Club is meeting on Monday, May 24 at 6pm. For more information, please contact Cecilia Newman at 850-450-7518 or cjn.santarosademocraticwomen@gmail.com.

Legislative Action Alerts

The state legislative session is over and we’d like to thank you for all of your efforts advocating for and against many of the bills in front of both the House and the Senate. While the results weren’t what we were hoping for in many cases, your advocacy ensured that we were heard and hopefully planted some positive seeds as we move forward. We will continue to let you know if there is else we need to be contacting our representatives about. This is the essence of democracy and we are committed to holding our representatives accountable.

COVID Vaccinations

Everyone over the age of 18 is now eligible to receive a COVID vaccine in the state of Florida, and children age 16-17 can receive a vaccine with parental permission. You can register and check your status at https://myvaccine.fl.gov.

The CDC is also doing a great job of keeping their guidelines up to date, and you can find all of that information here: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/index.html.

Thank You

Thank you for all that you are doing. We know that this continues to be a difficult time for everyone and we genuinely appreciate all of your efforts.

If you have any feedback or questions for us, you can reach us at 850-396-1935 or santarosadems@gmail.com. We will always be happy to hear from you.

In the meantime, stay safe and have a great week!
