Support New Environmental Code Before County Commission Inbox

Updated: Jun 16, 2021

There will be an item at the next Santa Rosa County Commissioners meeting on Tuesday May 25 to enact a new county code. This is an environmental damage violation with a fine schedule that starts at $3,000 for a first offense and increases to $10,000 for subsequent offenses. It also allows the county to assess additional fees to violators for the cost of repairing the damage they cause.

This is a significant step up from the current $300 fine with no method of assessing for damages, and it includes more specific descriptions of exactly what constitutes a violation. We are in support of this new code and would like your help in letting our County Commissioners know. Here is their contact information:

You can also click here to submit your comment online, though that link is only good through Wednesday May 19.

Thank you for all of your help.
